Wait, is there something going on this weekend?

Oh yeah—it’s just a little thing called Coachella weekend one. Hoards of hipsters, music-lovers and bohemian wanderlusts are packing up their lacy crop tops and sticking on their flash tattoos right now as they prepare to migrate to Indio for the next three days. And in the wake of the extravaganza, you know our newsfeeds are about to be flooded with the likes of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and every other Insta-famous fashion it-girl draped in the trendiest of desert duds—bodychains, bell-sleeved blouses, lacy bralettes; you get the picture.

Now, don’t get me wrong here: I adore Coachella fashion. The only problem? Wearing it anywhere else outside of the festival grounds. Because as cute as fresh flower crowns and fringed fanny packs can look against the backdrop of stages and palm trees, they don’t exactly have the same effect walking down the street.

So instead of just packing away your festival favorites until next year, why not find a way to rework them into your everyday outfits? With a little help from my lovely friend Halleta, I’ll show you how to do just that.

Americana Revival, Coac

Coachella Trends: Bohemian jewelry, furry vest, wide-brimmed hat
While furry vests may not be as common as, say, crochet cropped tops, they’ve definitely won favor from a few festival-going fashionistas (after all, the desert can get chilly at night!). By mixing it with a basic black knit top, distressed boyfriend jeans and a sleek pair of BCBG booties, you’ve got a solid Americana-inspired look. Throw on your trusty beaded necklace (this feather charm version is to die for) and a classic hat, and you’re ready for any street style occasion.

Coachella Trends: Bodychain, ’70s-inspired bell sleeved crop top
On top, this look is pure ‘chella. But pair it with some trendy cutoff shorts and a pair of sandals, and this look will work everywhere from the beach to a casual day of shopping in Santa Monica (this is California after all, where we love crop tops even more than Taylor Swift).

Coachella Trends: Lacy bralette,  bell sleeve cutout cardigan
Let this be known: I love bralettes. They’re my absolute favorite. But since sauntering around in a lacy bra is generally unacceptable in the majority of social situations, figuring out how to wear them in real life can be tricky. Which is where this white cutout cardigan comes in—just fasten at the bottom and insert a few discreet safety pins to close up the front, and you’ve got yourself a dreamy boho top to show off the bra without looking disheveled or half-dressed. Pair it with a sexy pair of black jeans (these are a cool faux suede) and some sandal heels, and this look is ideal for a night out on the town.
